Prospects of meeting between GPA principals encouraging

Although the messages coming across seem to conflicting depending on who is saying what, it is encourageing to note that there is a certain amount of willingness within the members of the Global Political Agreement (GPA) to meet and discuss the way forward following the MDC-T temporary disengagement from government recently. Many people following what is happening in Zimbabwe will agree with South African president Jacob Zuma's most recent comment that Zimbabwe "should not be allowed to slide back into instability".

When the political situation in Zimbabwe sarted deteriorating a few days ago, the country had not yet reached a desirable level where one could admit that things were running smoothly. Yet, some considerable progress had been made along the way. The path to restoration is never easy. What lies ahead is a lot of hard work for the two MDC factions and ZANU-PF. There is only so much the people of Zimbabwe can do; it is actually enough that they placed their hope and trust in the GPA in the first place.

The principals must just now act in good faith and get this country working again. It's possible.
