Dear Farai Maguwu [Vol. 2, Edition 25]

Preamble: Mr. Farai Maguwu, Executive Director of Centre for Research and Development (CRD), was arrested by the Zimbabwe Republic Police two weeks ago. He is currently in custody awaiting a bail hearing. Mr. Maguwu’s arrest is linked to his investigations into human rights abuses that were part of diamond mining and smuggling in Marange, Zimbabwe. The state wants to charge him with “publishing falsehoods against the State with the intention to cause prejudice to the security or economic interests of the country”.
