New Year, Old Challenges
THE PROMISE that accompanies the coming of every new year is always exciting. We are all eager to make a fresh start, the list of New Year resolutions is bigger (never mind the fact that the one from last year is barely complete!), high levels of energy are flowing all over the place and hope for great and rewarding year ahead is definitely in the air!
In so many ways, this is a very special year. Yes, the eyes of the World are going to be fixed on neighbouring South Africa as they host the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Zimbabwe will be difficult not look at as well in the midst of that global tournament for a variety of reasons. Perchance, if the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) manages to convince a few teams to set camp in our beautiful Zimbabwe maybe – and just maybe – we could have more than we have bargained for.
